La Guilde is presenting eight artists from Kinngait (Cape Dorset, NU) to highlight Nunavut Day, which marks the adoption of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement Act signed in 1993 between the Inuit of the Nunavut and Canada.

In 1999, Nunavut was officially established through the concrete separation of its ancestral territory from the Northwest Territories, followed by the establishment of its own legislative assembly and public government. Despite significant progress since its recognition, Joe Savikataaq, Nunavut Prime minister, emphasizes that "the territory still faces several challenges." Therefore, it is important to commemorate this pivotal day in the history of this territory and its residents.

The artworks of Kudluajuk Ashoona, Shuvinai Ashoona, Nicotye Samayualie, Ottokie Aningmiuq, Moe Pootoogook, Pitseolak Qimirpik, Enookie Saggiak, Taqialuq Nuna, Noah Ragee, andKuzy Curley depict contemporary themes and the daily life of the Nunavummiut.
