2016 Blurb Français Fléché is a unique craft, intimately linked to our history and folklore, which has been a testament to the skill and great patience of female workers for over 200 years. Since spring 2016, it has been officially recognized as an "element of Quebec's intangible heritage" by the province's Ministère de la Culture et des Communications. Without sacrificing anything of this traditional art, Catherine Lessard has been enthusiastically exploring the use of modern fibers for over 40 years. Playing with colors and textures, sometimes adding embellishments, she creates modern and original fléchés: belts, scarves, clothing ornaments. But more than that, her creative approach leads her to produce daring works of expression in which she shares with the public her passion for the dart and its infinite creative facets. Through her work, her research and her achievements, Catherine Lessard contributes to keeping alive a unique cultural heritage of which we should be collectively proud. Her works, exhibited on a number of occasions, celebrate a traditional craft and arouse renewed interest in fléchés.
