    Originally from the Northwest Territories, Abraham Anghik Ruben was inducted into the Order of Canada in 2016. He has been living and working as a sculptor in Salt Spring Island (BC) since 1986. A graduate of the Native Arts Centre at the University of Alaska, he has participated in several contemporary art exhibitions, such as Noah’s Ark, held at the National Gallery of Canada. Abraham Anghik Ruben is a storyteller, using what he knows as an inspiration. He tells stories of encounters between Inuit and Viking Norse in his work. His work is part of important museum collections, such as the Canadian Museum of History, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian and the Winnipeg Art Gallery (MB).
