Throat singer, hand drummer, and spoken word artist Nina Segalowitz uses music to share the history of Inuit and First Nations People. Practiced by the Inuit for hundreds of years, throat singing, or katajjaq, traditionally consists of two women who sing duets in a close face-to-face formation, creating an impressive and harmonious rhythm in a contest where the first singer to laugh or break the rhythm “loses”.
Multidisciplinary artist, costume designer, and chef Swaneige Bertrand, from the Acho Dene koe Nation of the Northwest Territories, enthusiastically shares the positivity of Indigenous cultures in all areas of her work. Her cuisine offers a gastronomic experience that takes us on a journey to discover the land’s rich and diverse palate.
