    Based in Kinngait (Cape Dorset, NU), graphic artist Sorrooseeleetuk Ashoona (1940 - present) began drawing in the 1960s with the encouragement of her mother-in-law, renowned graphic artist Pitseolak Ashoona. Inuit oral traditions and the experiences of women is at the heart of her work. Her artistic subjects matter are considered mischievous, subverting cultural roles and behaviours. Sorrooseeleetuk Ashoona can be found in the collection of the National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa, On), amongst others.
