Skawennati is an artist who explores history, the future, and change. She uses different art forms like machinima, sculpture, and fashion to question our relationship with technology and to represent Indigenous people in the future. Her work has been exhibited worldwide and is included in prestigious art collections. Skawennati co-founded AbTeC, a research-creation network focused on Indigenous storytelling and digital media; and daphne, Montreal's first Indigenous artist-run center. She is originally from Kahnawà:ke Mohawk Territory and holds a BFA from Concordia University and an honorary doctorate from Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
