Award-winning artist Shane Perley-Dutcher is a silversmith from Nekootkook (Tobique), a New Brunswick First Nation. He graduated from the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design (2000), having completed the Jewellery & Metal Art Program with honours and distinction. Being first and foremost a tribute to his people and ancestors, his creations are strongly inspired by the East Coast Maliseet culture and traditional Miꞌkmaq designs, combining traditional forms and motifs with a contemporary aesthetic and modern techniques. In 2019, he won first place in the sculpture category at the internationally-renowned Santa Fe Indigenous Art Market (New Mexico, USA).
