Sandy Maniapik

Based in Pangnirtung (NU), Sandy Maniapik makes hand-carved sculptures and jewellery. Using local stone, antler, whale baleen, and bone, each piece is carefully carved with intricate details. In 2002, the artist created a brooch in the shape of a whale that was offered to Queen Elizabeth II during her visit to Iqaluit to commemorate the creation of Nunavut.
