Taqtu is an Inuk artist from Taloyoak, Nunavut. Taqtu was raised along with three brothers, and calls Iqaluit home. They create art from both learned, and self-taught traditional skills. Taqtu’s experience as an artist began at a young age in performance, Throat Singing & Drum Dancing. Taqtu works with youth in the Ottawa Inuit community, reconnecting them to their language, culture and history. Taqtu loves working closely with Inuit, running art-based workshops like pualu-making, beading, printmaking, throat singing and parka making. Their most renowned and recognized project is a mural painted by Inuit youth in downtown Ottawa.
