Pavinak Petaulassie, a sculptor based in Kinngait (Cape Dorset, NU), first learned to carve from his father and other local artists in the 1970s. His style is naturalistic and robust. He often carves groups of birds, fish and other animals from a single piece of stone, a rather unusual and complex technique. His sculpture School of Fish (2013) is in the permanent collection of the Winnipeg Art Gallery (MB).
