Natasha Kanapé Fontaine is an Innu poet, performer, actress, and visual artist from Pessamit (QC). Although she began kindergarten in Baie-Comeau speaking only Innu, she soon began speaking only French, even to her family. Disturbed by this loss of her culture, she reconnected with her roots by becoming an activist for Indigenous rights. Her writings aim to give a voice to the voiceless in her community. In 2013, her poetry collection N'entre pas dans mon âme avec tes chaussures won the Prix littéraire des Écrivains francophones d'Amérique and in 2021, she went on stage to present her slam Nui Pimuten (Je veux marcher).
