Member of the Sakimay First Nation, Mike Patten is an artist and curator of mixed Cree and European descent currently based in Montreal. He completed his BFA at the University of Regina (SK) with a minor in art history and two majors, one in painting and the other in drawing. The artist uses both traditional and contemporary techniques to explore contemporary identity issues and paradoxes. Humour is a recurring element in his practice. His works have been featured in several exhibitions and art magazines. In 2017, he received the REVEAL Indigenous Art Award.
