Michel Dupont is a self-taught painter, engraver, and sculptor actively involved in several Fine Craft associations. After exploring and experimenting with silkscreen printing, he became interested in paper as a material to be transformed in the 1970s. This new aspect of his work led him to make paper by hand, in order to create sculptural forms. Strongly influenced by bas-relief, he developed a technique halfway between printmaking and painting to create unique works with dynamic surfaces. His work is held in several private and public collections in Canada, the United States and Europe, including at the Museum of Modern Art in (New York, USA).
