Mélina Schoenborn

The works of Montreal based ceramic artist Mélina Schoenborn, conceived as individuals made of clay that can interact with each other, pay tribute to the purity of the form and the material. After completing her studies in Art History and Visual Arts at the Université de Montréal, the artist continued her training through an internship in Thailand and ceramics courses with Marie-Andrée Côté and Virginie Besengez. Halfway between pottery and sculpture, the artist wishes to bridge these fields of expression and plays with the notion of the utilitarian and the non-utilitarian. Recipient of grants from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, the artist also exhibited her work at the Centre Materia in 2020.
