In her work, Maryse Chartrand is interested in the wonder of glass, a material with surprising effects. Her series sometimes evoke lightness or even frozen movement; other times, the vibrancy of colour that glass enables comes forth. In all cases, the artist engages in extensive formal research and allows the discoveries of her favourite medium to shine through. Having worked in communications and advertising, Maryse Chartrand started her career as a glass artist in 2013, following her studies at Espace VERRE (Montreal, QC). She continued to perfect her knowledge through courses in thermoforming, glassblowing, and glass flow at The Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass (NY, USA). Her work is part of public and private collections nationally and internationally, including those of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec and the Quebec Government Office in New York.
