Two-Spirit, Coast Salish artist, Margaret August is a member of the Shíshálh First Nation and was born in the traditional unceded territories of Lkwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ, now referred to as Victoria (BC). The artist started making prints and developing their business skills in 2013, which allowed them to become an independent artist. They share, like their ancestors, an urge to constantly expand their artistic practice and pass on their knowledge and cultural skills to a new generation of Salish artists. At the heart of the artist's philosophy is a desire to present an art form that creates change and a feeling of hope. The artist has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Canada.
