Laurent Craste, living and working in Montreal, shares his career between his professional artistic practice and the teaching of ceramics. Ceramist by training, he completed a Master's Degree in Visual and Media Arts at UQAM. Drawing on the repertoire of 18th-19th century European porcelain models, he deconstructs and alters his models in a tragicomic fashion, questioning the status of the collection objects. His artistic research focuses on the concepts related to decorative objects for collections, in their sociological, historical, ideological, and aesthetic dimensions. Over more than twenty years of career, Laurent Craste has received numerous awards and distinctions and participated in over sixty group and solo exhibitions in Canada, the United States, Europe, and Asia.
