Mikak is a multimedia textiles artist from Fredericton, NB, with roots in Nain, Nunatsiavut (Labrador). Specializing in crochet and printmaking, they bridge mediums to share political and environmental themes through clear, accessible motifs. Influenced by their two-spirit identity and journey in fibre arts, Mikak began their professional career in 2021 and discovered a passion for linocut printmaking in 2022. Their work explores themes of reclamation, decolonization, and resilience, all deeply tied to their cultural identity. Mikak’s art blends these concepts within the skills they work with, creating layered narratives of resistance and endurance.
