Karine Demers

Originally from Quebec City, Karine Demers is now established in the Lanaudière region, where she works on her artistic practice. As a self-taught visual artist, she studied interior design and building design. It is through art therapy that she resumed her creative process in 2013 to have a tool to deal with a severe anxiety disorder as well as an obsessive-compulsive disorder. This art form allows the artist to free herself through an aesthetic process that is part of the analysis of her inner identity, the expression of her emotions and the affirmation of her personality. Inspired by paper as a medium, it is by folding it into large numbers of simple shapes that her pieces are built. Her works provoke curiosity and astonishment while harmonizing with her personality through patience, and creative vitality, but also through the delicateness of certain pieces.
