Born in the traditional Inuit camp Ikerasak near Kinngait (Cape Dorset, NU), Johnny Pootoogook is a talented artist involved in the Kinngait Studios since his childhood. His father, Kananginak, a prominent and involved community leader, was a sculptor and printmaker himself. Inspired by his culture and life up North, Johnny Pootoogook's work includes sculpting, printmaking, and drawing. He has participated in several exhibitions, such as "Linked: An Exhibition to Raise Awareness about Climate Change" at the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco in 2016, and his work is held in prestigious institutions such as the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (QC) and the Canadian Museum of History (Gatineau, QC).
