Jean-Simon Trottier is among the best glassblowers in Canada. He studied at Espace VERRE in 2002, where he now teaches. He has perfected his technical skills with various French glass artisans as well as at the Centre international de recherche en verre et en arts plastiques in Marseille (FR). His creative process is intuitive, allowing his senses to guide him in the creation of his work. The essence of his approach is the idea of balance - and imbalance. He is interested in the movements and upheavals that characterise our times and is inspired by the way these dynamics evolve to find their balance. His work has been exhibited internationally and has won several awards and grants, including the "Best in Show" award in the Fireworks touring exhibition in 2013 (ON).
