    Itee Pootoogook (1951-2014) is a renowned artist born in Kimmirut and raised in Kinngait (Cape Dorset, NU). He began his artistic practice in the 1970s, experimenting with photography and animated films before turning to drawing as his medium of choice. In the late 1990s, he became actively involved in his graphic practice at Kinngait Studios. A meticulous graphite and coloured pencils illustrator, Itee Pootoogook draws his inspirations primarily from contemporary Nordic life. He is particularly interested in local architectural forms and creates works that depict various contemporary buildings. He also makes many portraits where his figures engage in activities, including stone carving and watching television indoors.
