Born in Armenia and living in Montreal, Gayané Avetisyan has a background in fine arts with specializations in painting, printmaking, and ceramics. Having lived in several countries, a large variety of cultural influences and techniques can be seen in her work. In Georgia, she learned the technique of enamel, which brought her to jewellery-making, a medium that allows her to mix her conceptual nature with her aesthetic sense. In 2018, she was awarded a prize in the jewellery category of Alchemy 5, organized by the Enamelist Society (Oregon, USA), on top of the award of excellence at the Gala de l’École de joaillerie de Montréal.
