Of the eagle clan Tsiits Gitanee, Erik Prytula is a Haida artist specializing in Design, argillite sculpting, and acrylic painting. He began his career as a self-taught artist in 2013 and is currently learning how to carve cedar with his mentor, master carver Reg Davidson. In 2015, Erik Prytula was commissioned to complete an 8x12 ft. mural for Thompson Rivers University, where he graduated with a BSc in biology. The artist developed a traditional style in which he emphasizes flow and intricacy. He views his art as a means of being connected with his culture and inspiring the youth of tomorrow.
