Originally from Vancouver (BC), ceramic artist Eliza Au investigates how past and present architectural ornaments participate in the notion of sacred space. At the intersection of digital technology, craft, and architecture, her artistic approach is similar to that of a mathematical equation. With computer-aided design [CAD], she seeks to depict various elements the digital world and transpose them into the physical world. Defined by both negative space and positive space, her work evokes elegance, beauty and balance. Along with her artistic career, Eliza Au teaches ceramics at the University of North Texas (USA). Her work is included in numerous public and private collections, including the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery in Waterloo (ON).
