    Daphne Odjig (1919-2016) was an internationally renowned artist who grew up in the unceded community of Wikwemikong on Manitoulin Island (Lake Huron, ON). She was the granddaughter of Chief Jonas Odjig of the Potawatomi Nation. Daphne Odjig was the first and only female First Nations artist to exhibit at the National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa, ON). Associated with the Woodland style, she was one of her generation's most influential indigenous artists.
