"Son of renowned artists Kenojuak Ashevak and Johnniebo Ashevak, Adamie Ashevak is originally from Kinngait (Cape Dorset, NU). Growing up in the wilderness, he moved to the community in 1965. It allowed him to start sculpting at 10, a skill acquired by his parents. His harmonious stonework is based mainly on the subjects that surround him. Adamie Ashevak has developed a keen knowledge of wild animals and their habits through his upbringing and lifestyle. This has allowed him to observe and represent intimacy, movement, and physicality in Nordic fauna. One of his favourite subjects is the polar bear, where he depicts several distinct expressions. This ability has also extended to drawing, a practice within which he includes various moments of life and patterns from his daily life. "
