ABOUT THE PRIX FRANÇOIS-HOUDÉ
The Prix François-Houdé was launched in 1996 by the city of Montreal in collaboration with the Conseil des métiers d’art du Québec. The goal behind this award is to promote excellence in Montreal fine craft creations and to enable the dissemination of young craftspeople's arts. The award, which comes with a $5,000 prize, highlights the remarkable craftsmanship that these creations demonstrate and their original contribution to the practice of a fine craft. Whether it be the transformation of woods, textiles, metals, glass, ceramics, papers, or other materials, the awards recognize the mastery of exploratory techniques inherent to the artisans' respective disciplines.
