Graffiti and Beading | Judy & Cruz Anderson

La Guilde is proud to welcome artists, Judy and Cruz Anderson, to lead a beading workshop as part of the Beading Now! exhibition. Cruz Anderson will first guide participants in creating a graffiti on a sheet of paper. Judy Anderson will then assist them in reproducing their graffiti on a piece of fabric and beading the outline. Participants will be able to leave with their creations.

Judy Anderson

A multidisciplinary artist of Nehiyaw (Cree) origin from Gordon First Nation (Treaty 4 Territory, in Saskatchewan), Judy Anderson teaches Canadian Indigenous Studio Art in the Department of Art at the University of Calgary. She holds an MFA and a BFA from the University of Regina, as well as a BA in Native Studies from the University of Saskatchewan. Recipient of the Salt Spring Nation Art Prize and the REVEAL: Indigenous Art Award from the Hnatyshyn Foundation, Judy Anderson participates in numerous exhibitions in Canada and internationally.

Cruz Anderson

Artist Cruz Anderson, of Nehiyaw (Cree) origin from Gordon First Nation (Treaty 4 Territory, in Saskatchewan), is currently studying at the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto. He holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts degree from the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, and has participated in several exhibitions across Canada. His works are part of the University of Regina's collection as well as several private collections. He has conducted a number of conferences and workshops in recent years.
