Come explore several weaving techniques with artist Monique Ste-Marie as part of the Prix François-Houdé 2019. She will guide you through this learning process where you will create a small coloured and textured textile mural (4" x 4") on a wooden board. You will leave with your creation.
The artist Monique Ste-Marie combines in her practice as a designer, tradition and modernity. In addition to her training at the Centre des textiles contemporains de Montréal (CTCM) in textile construction, her studies in graphic design and multimedia feed her research in the fields of fashion, object design and visual arts. She participated in several group exhibitions in Montreal and abroad, and presented a solo exhibition in 2018, which gave her the opportunity to present at Galerie Martine Hénault. She also gives workshops—MCCT, TWIST festival, réseau des bibliothèques de Montréal and Pointe-à-Callière Museum—and conferences. Ste-Marie now devotes herself to artistic pieces and recently collaborated with cabinetmaker Loïc Bard to create a collection that combines wood and fibers presented at the Souk Mtl last December.
