A graduate of the Centre des textiles contemporains de Montréal, artist Tamara Rubilar did specialized training at the École Lesage in Paris and the Royal School of Needlework in London. In 2019, she opened her studio, Studio textile Montreal—a place for creation and training in art embroidery. Her techniques of research include knitting, crochet, embroidery, ornamentation, pleating, and lace. Her approach is to reappropriate these ancestral techniques and skills to express a personal and contemporary language through the creation of expressive works and clothing. Her work has been part of group exhibitions in Canada, France, and Spain.
