Simeonie Killiktee is an established carver based in Kimmirut (Lake Harbour, NU). Often depicting northern wildlife, the artist skillfully exploits the grain of soapstone and serpentine to give a unique texture to each of his creations, often accentuating the details using hand tools. His favourite subject, the muskox, is represented with a compelling contrast of the smooth polished stone and the rough textured details.
