Based in Montreal, artist Sébastien Gaudette builds his practice around the medium of paper. He explores, among other things, the relation between sculpture, drawing, and installation. After studying Visual and Media Arts at UQAM, he began his research on the medium of paper. His method explores the multiple facets of crumpling paper, which creates perfect trompe-l'oeil using various techniques. Paper thus becomes his narrative framework while its symbolic connotation plays an important role. Sébastien Gaudette's works have been shown in numerous solo exhibitions throughout Quebec and internationally, notably at the Musée des beaux-arts de Sherbrooke, the Musée des beaux-arts de Mont Saint-Hilaire, the Cirque du Soleil, and the Art Helix Gallery (Brooklyn, USA). They have also been in several international art fairs, including Art on Paper in Miami (USA) and the Seattle Art Fair (USA).
