Born in Iqaluit (NU), Pootoogook Qiatsuk is a third-generation master sculptor, jewellery maker, and printmaker. His grandfather Kiakshuk (1886-1966) was one of the original carvers from Kinngait (Cape Dorset, NU). Pootoogook Qiatsuk studied at the Nunavut Arctic College and developed his own unique style, winning the BMO 1st Art! Awards (2004) with his linography "Our Dream". His works are held in several public collections, including those of the National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa, ON), the Canada Council Art Bank (Ottawa, ON) and the Art Gallery of Ontario (Toronto, ON).
