Multidisciplinary Inuk artist Niap (Kuujjuaq, Nunavik, QC and Montreal, QC) uses different mediums such as drawing, painting, textiles, and sculpture to bring together traditional Inuit art with a modernist aesthetic. In her practice, she explores her identity as an Inuk woman and celebrates her cultural heritage. She sometimes mixes media to affect the perception and depth of her works. Niap (also known as Nancy Saunders) has been exhibited nationally in institutions such as the Winnipeg Art Gallery (MB) and McCord Museum (Montreal, QC) and is part of institutional collections such as the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (QC).
