A graduate of the Centre des métiers du cuir de Montréal, artist Marie Petit has been practising leatherworking since 2016 with two Quebec companies. In her work, she is inspired by nature, which is full of contrasts, shapes, colours, and textures. She creates works in which the assembled leathers are distributed in such a way as to create a movement of colours and whose forms are distinguished by the alternation of nuances. This approach contributes to changing the usual perception of the objects she creates and gives them a story of their own. Her work was presented at the Musée de la mode in Montreal in 2016 and 2017, as well as in the exhibition A Pro Peau at the Musée des métiers d'art du Québec in 2017.
