Artist Marie-Anne Simard was introduced to the creation of jewelry at the Cégep du Vieux Montréal (2014-2015). In 2020, she graduated from the Centre des métiers du cuir de Montréal. Recipient of the Diane Tremblay Award, she practices her craft as a leatherworker independently and with two Montreal companies. She creates her works using several leatherworking techniques, including sheathing. Her diverse sources of inspiration—including the history of costume and the theatre—allow her to create objects that are sober, discreet in their efficiency, and elegance. She is fascinated by the warmth of leather, by its patina that is created with time, and that is impregnated with the history of those who wear it.
