Josie Pitseolak (1976-2018) was an Inuk multidisciplinary artist from Iqaluit (NU). A self-taught artist, he began drawing at the age of nine and carving at the age of twelve by observing his family members who were also artists. His drawings are usually inspired by members of his family while his sculptures usually depict polar bears. His drawings have appeared in two children's books as well as in the Nunavut 2000 Print Collection. Most recently, he was featured in the Fall 2018 issue of Inuit Art Quarterly.
