As part of the exhibition Our Beautiful Land ,La Guilde invites you to Come and take part in the watercolour demonstration hosted by artist Heather Campbell. Discover the creative process of this artist from Nunatsiavut (Labrador), who will create an artwork before you. Using watercolour, she will first sketch an abstract background. Then, from another background prepared before the demonstration, she will show how she find the shapes that she would like to outline in pen and how she details various characters and animals who emerge from the abstraction. By immersing yourself in her world, you will know her technique and sources of inspiration.
Heather Campbell is originally from Rigolet, Nunatsiavut and has a B.F.A. from Sir Wilfred Grenfell College School of Fine Art, Memorial University of Newfoundland. She was a Curatorial Assistant at the Inuit Art Centre of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada for a number of years, and was on the board of directors of the artist run centre Gallery 101. Heather’s artwork was most recently shown in the group exhibition SakKijâjuk and can be found in the collections of the Department of Indigenous Affairs, Carleton University, City of Ottawa, Algonquin College, and various other private collections.
