Born in the outpost camp Admadjuak (NU), Pudlo Pudlat (1916-1992) was a talented artist of the Kinngait Studios (Cape Dorset, NU). Originally a sculptor, Pudlo Pudlat later devoted himself to drawing, painting, and printmaking, creating approximately 4,500 drawings and 190 prints. He was the first Inuk to have a solo exhibition at the National Gallery of Canada (ON) in 1990 and is one of Kinngait's most celebrated graphic artists. He was eloquent and open in how he spoke about his life, family, and career drawing, living in outpost camps and eventually settling in Kinngait, though still travelling the world to share his art and perspective. In addition to being exhibited across Canada, the United States and Europe, his artworks are held in major public collections, including those of the Royal Ontario Museum (Toronto, ON), the Vancouver Art Gallery (Vancouver, ON) and the Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth (TX, USA).
