Daniel Kumarluk

    Born in Kuujjuarapik, Daniel Kumarluk is an Inuk artist living in Umiujaq (Nunavik, QC), since 1986. He learned to carve at the age of 16 by watching accomplished carvers from his community. Using argillite to create small, smooth sculptures, he also works with walrus bones to make knives and beautiful earrings. Inspired by life in the North, he often sculpts family, hunting scenes, and animals like bears and whales.
