Born in Kimmirut (NU), Tim Pitsiulak (1967-2016) was a successful artist and active hunter based in Kinngait (Cape Dorset, NU). He started drawing at a young age and studied sculpture and jewellery making at the Nunavut Arctic College before turning his attention to printmaking. Through his detailed works, Tim Pitsiulak translated his respect and appreciation for the Arctic land, the beings who live there, and his community. His work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums throughout Canada and included in many public collections of prestigious institutions such as the National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa, ON) and the Canadian Museum of History (Gatineau, QC).
