Born in Bowmanville (ON), emerging jewellery artist Lavinia Van Heuvelen moved to Iqailut (NU), where her mother is from, after graduating high school. Lavinia Van Heuvelen studied Jewellery and Metalwork at the Nunavut Arctic College (Iqailut, NU) and has since been creating unique jewellery made with silver and natural materials sourced from local hunters. Her work is inspired by the beauty of the North and its people, often depicting traditional Inuit themes such as animals. The artist won numerous awards and her work is exhibited and sold across Canada.
