Born in Masset (BC), Haida Gwaii artist John Brent Bennett graduated from Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design (Vancouver, BC) in 2003 and obtained his Master’s degree in Fine Arts in 2009 from Concordia University, where he specialized in printmaking. The artist redefines what it means to be a contemporary Haida artist by blending traditional design elements and digital technology. His work is part of more than twenty private and public collections, including those of the Haida Gwaii Museum (BC), the Canadian Museum of History (Gatineau, QC) and the Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (Montreal, QC).
