Saturday, November 14, 2020 - 1 to 2 PM

Presentation in french only.

As part of the exhibition Light on Glass, the artist Maryse Chartrand is doing a virtual demonstration of cold-working glass. The artist not only introduces her artistic approach, but also presents the different stages of glass sculpting, from cutting to polishing. With the help of videos filmed in the intimacy of her studio and at Espace Verre, Maryse Chartrand reveals the expressive potential of each technique! During a question period at the end of the event, she discusses her practice in detail and highlights her creative process. Her demonstration is an opportunity to perfect your knowledge of glass!

For those who couldn't attend, here is the video from her presentation and demonstration of cold-working glass:

Maryse Chartrand, a graduate from the Centre des métiers du verre du Québec, started her career as a glass artist in 2013 after 25 years working in communications. She views each of her pieces as the canvas, and glass as the paint. Her colouration technique involves the exclusive use of transparent and coloured particles of glass built into layers. This process produces rich and organic pieces—a surprise of details, textures and nuances. Her works are held in public and private collections nationally and internationally, including those of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec.
